C&IS ROOTS
C&IS ROOTS (Resources, Opportunities, & Outreach for Transitioning Students) is a mentorship program within the College of Communication & Information Sciences at UA that connects first-year, second-year, and transfer students with peer-to-peer mentorship opportunities to help them successfully transition into college life. For the rebrand, we preserved the program’s supportive, community-driven foundation while creating an entirely new brand identity—balancing Strategic Communications guidelines (blegh) with a fresh, grounded, and playful chalkboard-inspired aesthetic.
Try Tuscaloosa
Try Tuscaloosa is a new organization designed to connect driven C&IS and Political Science students with meaningful, for-credit internships in the Tuscaloosa community. We created the full brand identity from the ground up, drawing inspiration from Art Deco design and the historic Try Tuscaloosa sign on the Alston Building in the early 1920s. The result blends modern professionalism with a nostalgic, locally rooted aesthetic that reflects the program’s mission to keep top talent in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama as a whole.
